I chose to do a redesign for Lazy Day Cafe, because I thought their site could use a more aesthetic and responsive design, and better utilize features such as vertical scrolling. Lazy Day Cafe is a small family run cafe that I often frequent and after many uses of their site, I thought “how could I make this better? Check out their current design followed by the redesign.

Color Theory:
I chose to stick with the yellow and red as they evoke the tastebuds and stimulate the appetite, but I chose to go with some lighter hues to give the site a more relaxed subdued feel much like the experience and vibe you feel when you eat at Lazy Day Cafe.
Home Page:
Some may think adding in the vertical scrolling and a number of new sections will overwhelm a user. I came into this project with the mindset of putting the most important things or most common/important things people look for on a restaurant website at the top of the page making my way down to lesser importance. I designed this for a desktop originally, but with some small tweaks this design could accommodate a native/mobile version.
Challenges:
One of the main challenges I am still working on is to create responsive component that then triggers an action in another component. (Ie Add to card button — adding total number into cart).
